Danantara plans to merge 15 state-owned insurers into three by year-end

Danantara plans to merge 15 state-owned insurers into three by the end of 2026.

The plan involves Indonesian state-owned insurance companies, including firms under the Indonesia Financial Group, or IFG.

The three new groups are expected to focus on life, general and credit insurance, with Islamic insurance also included in the consolidation.

Ahead of the mergers, Danantara and IFG leaders stressed that business decisions need proper research, risk checks, oversight and clear records.

They say strong governance can help make the mergers accountable while supporting companies’ ability to grow and innovate.

Danantara expects the consolidation to be completed by year-end, though the companies’ merger process is still under way.
