Xdinary Heroes to release first album as a five-member band
South Korean band Xdinary Heroes is releasing its ninth mini-album, “IMPULSE,” on Oct.
12 at 6 p.m.
The seven-track album is the group’s first since drummer Gunil left in August, leaving it with five members.
Its lead song, “Obsessed with Youth,” focuses on desire and the excitement and uncertainty of youth.
The band says the songs explore different emotions and encourage people to accept what they feel rather than deny it.
The members said they connected with the lead song because they, too, experience conflicting feelings as young people.
The band has performed at events including Lollapalooza Chicago, where it made its debut at a major overseas festival.

It is the band’s first release since drummer Gunil left in August.
The seven-track album uses desire as a theme and explores a range of emotions.
Its title track, Obsessed with Youth, focuses on the excitement and uncertainty of youth.

This story does not have two clearly opposing sides.
We wanted to express the various emotions people have through music, using desire as the keyword.
We wanted to convey the message that whatever emotions come along, positive or negative, people should accept them as they are and not deny their feelings.
We were also young people wavering between conflicting emotions like the title track, so we could immerse ourselves deeply in the work.
