Anime feature ranks 10 major villains from isekai series

A feature ranks 10 villains from isekai anime, a genre in which characters are often transported to or reborn in another world.

It notes that some reincarnated leads, including Ainz Ooal Gown from Overlord and Tanya von Degurechaff from Saga of Tanya the Evil, become villains.

Oliveira von Schtradius from Wise Man’s Grandchild turns to revenge after nobles kill his wife and burn down their home.

He later brainwashes and enslaves people to support his campaign.

Dilandau Albatou from The Vision of Escaflowne is a proud fighter whose fear of being alone can stop him in battle.

Fenrir, a powerful knight in The Eminence in Shadow, is driven by a desire to stay young forever.

These characters show how antagonists can shape the conflicts in isekai stories as much as their heroes do.
