Brazilian accounting group starts tax reform training for accountants
Fenacon and Brazil’s Federal Accounting Council have started a national training program to help accountants understand the country’s tax reform.
They plan to hold 41 in-person seminars in capital cities and other locations by December 2026, with a goal of reaching at least 10,000 accountants.
The tax changes began in 2026, and the transition from the old system to the new one is expected to continue until 2033.
The program responds to accountants’ difficulty keeping up with the changes and correcting misinformation shared with their business clients.
The reform will affect more than which taxes companies pay; businesses may also need to review costs, suppliers and tax credits.
Fenacon expects accountants to take on a more strategic role as companies adjust.
Further seminars are planned through December, and Fenacon is discussing possible sector-specific training for business owners in 2027.
Fenacon has launched a national training project to prepare accounting professionals for Brazil’s tax reform.
The initiative, called “Tax Reform Across Brazil,” is being run with the Federal Accounting Council.
It plans 41 in-person seminars in Brazilian capitals and strategic cities by December 2026, with a target of at least 10,000 accountants.
The project responds to difficulties accountants face in keeping up with changes that began in 2026 and are scheduled to continue through 2033.
Fenacon says accountants will need to help clients address misinformation and advise businesses on costs, suppliers and tax credits.
