Free psychological support services available across Mexico
People in Mexico can seek free psychological support through phone lines and community health centers.
The services are offered by institutions including the Health Secretariat, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
The national Línea de la Vida is free, confidential and open 24 hours a day, every day, for concerns including anxiety, depression, emotional crises and substance use.
IMSS and UNAM also offer phone counseling, but their services have set hours; IMSS says its line is open to people without IMSS coverage as well.
In Mexico City, Locatel and the Citizens’ Council also provide round-the-clock emotional support by phone.
For in-person care, Community Mental Health and Addiction Centers across the country offer prevention, assessment and treatment, and people can contact or visit a nearby center to ask about a first appointment.
The Health Secretariat advises seeking help when emotional problems disrupt daily life, relationships or quality of life.
Mexico offers free psychological support through telephone lines operated by health institutions and universities, as well as in-person community centers.
