Inclusive nightlife events grow across Switzerland, but barriers remain
Across Switzerland, new parties and cultural events are bringing people with and without disabilities together.
At the Inclusions rave in Zurich, disabled guests also take part as a DJ and performers.
Raphael, who performs with a dance group, says it should be normal for everyone to dance together.
In Bern, the Blindspot association is developing a service that pairs trained young volunteers with people with disabilities at cultural events.
Luzern and Zurich also have projects offering inclusive parties, concerts and other events.
Barriers remain, including stairs, cost and people's unease about disability.
Organisers hope that shared events will become so ordinary that special inclusion events are no longer needed.
Inclusive parties and cultural events are emerging in several Swiss cities to make nightlife more accessible to people with disabilities.
A Zurich rave called Inclusions brings people with and without disabilities together on the dance floor, at the DJ booth and on stage.
Other initiatives include a volunteer accompaniment project in Bern, events in Lucerne and concerts in Zurich made accessible through sign language and vibration.
People involved say shared nightlife can feel natural, but access to ordinary clubs remains limited.
Stairs, costs and fears or uncertainty about interacting with people with disabilities are identified as barriers.
