Canton Fair adds membership services for overseas buyers

The 140th China Import and Export Fair, known as the Canton Fair, will run in Guangzhou from October 15 to November 4.

It will introduce membership services for overseas buyers for the first time.

The fair is also setting up a buyers’ alliance, which already includes 58 major purchasing companies from 32 countries or regions.

Organizers say the alliance will help members share information and coordinate resources.

The fair will feature new products and technologies, with first-time launches in areas such as service robots, smart healthcare and new energy up about 20% from the previous fair.

It will also try a new format combining exhibitions with livestreams aimed at overseas audiences.

The event will take place in three phases, and organizers say they have not yet announced further details about the new buyer membership service.

This is also a new measure for deepening buyer classification and promoting a shift in buyer work from ‘traffic management’ to ‘value operation’.
