Shane Gillis returns to host Saturday Night Live

Comedian Shane Gillis is returning to host Saturday Night Live on October 10, 2026.

It is his second time hosting the NBC sketch show, after appearances in 2024 and 2025.

SNL announced him as a cast member in 2019, alongside Chloe Fineman and Bowen Yang.

Days later, a past podcast clip resurfaced in which Gillis used a racial slur and made comments about Chinese people and restaurants.

SNL said the language was offensive, hurtful and unacceptable, and that it had not known about the remarks when it hired him.

Gillis said at the time that he sometimes missed the mark and apologized to anyone offended.

His return as host brings him back to the show years after he was removed from its cast.
