Jangsu County to spend 24.6 billion won on flood-risk improvements

Jangsu County in North Jeolla Province, South Korea, plans to spend 24.6 billion won next year on flood-prevention work in Biryong and Wondaeron.

The national government selected both areas for a disaster-risk improvement program and will provide 12.3 billion won.

The sites are prone to flooding because their streams are narrow and their banks are low.

In Biryong, the county plans to improve the stream and bridges and install stormwater pipes.

In Wondaeron, it plans to improve the stream and bridges.

The work is intended to reduce flood damage and protect residents and their property.
