Starbucks Says It Is Not Buying Chipotle

Starbucks has denied that it plans to buy Chipotle, after a report said the coffee chain was exploring a takeover.

The report described a possible deal for Chipotle, which it valued at $41 billion.

Starbucks said it is not buying the Mexican-style restaurant chain.

The rumor followed Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol’s earlier role as Chipotle’s chief executive.

Reports said the takeover speculation lifted Chipotle shares and weighed on Starbucks shares.

Starbucks is focused on its “Back to Starbucks” strategy, which aims to strengthen its coffee, menu, service and coffeehouse experience.

The company said it plans to share its fourth-quarter results and guidance for fiscal 2027 later this month.
