India's infrastructure output rises 4.8% in August on growth
India measures how important industries such as electricity, cement and fuel are performing.
In August, this combined output grew by 4.8% compared with August last year.
Cement and electricity production grew strongly.
Steel and iron ore production also increased.
However, coal, crude oil, fertiliser and natural gas production fell.
The stronger sectors helped balance the weaker ones.
Growth in July was slightly higher at a revised 5%.
From April through August, infrastructure output grew 4.3%, better than the 2.4% growth recorded in the same period last year.

Cement production rose 12.5%, while electricity generation increased 11.6% during August.
Steel output grew 3.4%, and iron ore production increased 5.5%, although iron ore growth slowed from July.
Coal, crude oil, fertiliser and natural gas production all declined in August.
Cumulative infrastructure output growth for April-August reached 4.3%, up from 2.4% in the same period last year.
