Pune civic body starts planning 1.7 km twin tunnel, NCP seeks to cancel one arm · indianexpress.com

The Pune civic body wants to build a road tunnel under Vetal Tekdi.

The planned tunnel would be 1.7 kilometres long and have two arms.

It would connect Kothrud and Janwadi with Panchvati.

Officials say the project could help reduce traffic on Senapati Bapat Road.

The plan was first proposed in 2017.

PMC wants to hire a consultant to study traffic data and prepare a detailed report.

The consultant will also examine what the project needs.

The Nationalist Congress Party wants one arm, between Kothrud and Pashan, to be cancelled.

It says other planned roads and transit routes should be considered.
