Government Extends RoDTEP Scheme Through December 2026 Amid Trade Pressures
The government has decided to keep an export-support program running until December 31, 2026.
The program is called RoDTEP.
It gives exporters credits for some taxes and fees that are not refunded in another way.
These credits can help exporters pay import duties or sell the credits.
The program covers 10,780 kinds of products.
The credits are usually worth between 0.3% and 3.9% of the value of exported goods.
The government says the extension can give businesses more certainty while wars and tariff problems disrupt trade.
However, the program must stay within its yearly budget, and apparel and garments use a different program called RoSCTL.
The government has extended the RoDTEP scheme for three months, through December 31, 2026.
The extension is intended to provide exporters certainty amid wars, tariff challenges and pressure on India’s global cost competitiveness.
RoDTEP refunds otherwise unreimbursed central, state and local taxes, including electricity duties and fuel-related VAT.
The scheme covers 10,780 products and offers transferable duty-credit scrips generally worth 0.3% to 3.9% of export value.
The 2026-27 allocation is Rs 15,728 crore, including Rs 5,346 crore for past dues; apparel and garments remain under RoSCTL.
