Rural Journalism Students Earn Gold Medals at Osmania University
Three women from rural areas did very well in journalism studies.
Katla Kavya earned the highest overall marks in her course.

Gollapalli Chamanthi won a gold medal in 2017 for high marks in Development and Rural Communication.
Kadasi Chiruhasini won the same medal in 2023.

Chamanthi worked with a newspaper and a YouTube channel after completing her studies.
Chiruhasini changed from engineering to journalism after facing difficulties following her father’s death.
Their achievements show how students from rural backgrounds can succeed in higher education.
Katla Kavya won the late Major SM Hussain and Amina Begum Gold Medal for achieving the highest aggregate marks in her MA Journalism and Mass Communication examinations.
Kavya, from Anantaram village, studied in government institutions and now works for a private financial company in Karimnagar.
She will receive the medal from Governor Shiva Pratap Shukla at Osmania University’s 85th Convocation on September 8.
Gollapalli Chamanthi and Kadasi Chiruhasini previously won Yudhvir Memorial Gold Medals for the highest marks in Development and Rural Communication.
The three students came from rural backgrounds and pursued journalism studies at University PG College, Siddipet.
