Odisha Disburses Fifth Subhadra Instalment to Over One Crore Women

Odisha gave many women the fifth payment under the Subhadra Yojana.

The payment was Rs 5,000 for each eligible beneficiary.

The government said more than Rs 5,163 crore was sent to women’s bank accounts.

One report said the payment reached 1,03,26,162 women, while another rounded the figure to 1.3 crore.

The money was released at an event in Lathipada in Nayagarh district on Friday, during Raksha Bandhan.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the scheme should help women make their own financial decisions.

Surveys cited by him said many women used the money for savings, businesses and other long-term activities.

The government also said it was supporting women entrepreneurs and had created 27 lakh Lakhpati Didis.
