Kerala gives additional Rs 2 lakh to Wayanad landslide victims

Last year, in a place called Wayanad in India, heavy rain caused landslides, which happen when mud and rocks slide down hills.

The disaster in July 2024 was very sad because more than 200 people lost their lives and hundreds of homes were destroyed.

The government of Kerala decided to help the families who survived and lost their homes.

The Chief Minister said the government will give each affected family an extra 2 lakh rupees, which is a lot of money.

Altogether, about five crore rupees will be given to the survivors.

Leaders made this decision at a cabinet meeting, where they also agreed to sign a plan for building houses in cities.

The government also promised to help the family of a brave man named R Rajesh, who died while saving another person from flood waters.

The Chief Minister said they will finish building the family's unfinished house and give them all the help they deserve.
