Maharashtra Introduces Three-Year Performance Reviews for District Health Officers
Maharashtra is creating a new way to review senior district health officers.
Their work will be checked every year using a 100-point score.
The review will look at three years of work, from 2023-24 through 2025-26.
Officers will receive grades from A to D. The government will examine how well they help patients and solve complaints.
It will also check how they use money, manage staff and respond to emergencies.
Work on health programs and digital services will count too.
Officers with clean records and at least three years of service can be assessed.
The government says the system will connect future responsibilities more closely to good performance.
Maharashtra’s Public Health Department will annually assess District Surgeons and District Health Officers on a 100-point scale.
Performance records from 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26 will determine officers’ grades from A to D.
Reviews will cover patient services, grievance handling, leadership, training, communication and healthcare facility quality.
Financial management, manpower deployment, emergency responses and implementation of health programs will also be evaluated.
Officers must have at least three years of service by March 31, 2026, with integrity and clean disciplinary records required.
