Maharashtra launches India's first menopause and PCOD clinics
The Maharashtra government in India has opened special health clinics just for women.
These clinics help women with a condition called PCOD, which affects hormones, and women going through menopause, a natural change in the body later in life.
Maharashtra is the first state in India to set up these special clinics.
The clinics offer check-ups, advice, and treatment.
More than 127,000 women have already been helped.
The clinics are available in 580 government health centres across the state.
A big meeting was held to train doctors and nurses on how to care for these women better.
A minister named Meghana Bordikar opened the meeting.
She said menopause is a natural phase but is often ignored because of lack of awareness and stigma.
The goal is to make sure women get good healthcare at every stage of their lives.
Maharashtra has become the first state in India to establish dedicated Menopause and PCOD Clinics across its government health facilities.
The clinics offer comprehensive screening, counselling, treatment and referral services for women.
Currently, 580 government health facilities across the state provide these specialised services.
Over 1.27 lakh women have benefited through counselling, screening and treatment since the initiative's launch.
A State-Level Workshop on the clinics was held at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, inaugurated by Minister of State for Public Health Meghana Bordikar.
