A new office building was opened for a farm science centre in Periyavaram.

Dr Rajbir Singh opened the building on Monday.

He said these centres should help farmers use new farming ideas and research.

He also asked officials to provide several services through one convenient system.

Farmers could get advice, good seeds, planting materials and other support there.

He said training rural young people could help them start agriculture-related businesses.

A display at the centre showed fruits and products made using natural farming methods.

The university also said it had developed 38 varieties of horticultural crops.
