Malda: brown sugar worth Rs 4 crore seized, two arrested

Police officers in a part of India called Malda found something very bad hidden in a bag.

It was a drug called brown sugar, which is against the law to sell.

The drug was heavy, weighing about as much as three big bags of sugar.

Police say it could be worth about four crore rupees, which is a huge amount of money.

Two young men were caught with the drug early in the morning.

Their names are Nur Alam and Sariqul Sheikh, and they live in a village in Malda.

They were taken to court, where a judge said they must stay with police for seven days.

Police want to find out where the drug came from and who else is involved in the smuggling.

Police are working hard to stop drugs from being sold in their district.
