Police in Jammu and Kashmir detained Imtiaz Ahmad under a law used to prevent illegal drug trafficking.

Police described him as a habitual drug offender.

They said he had been involved in two earlier drug cases and had received bail.

Authorities said the detention was intended to stop further involvement in drug-related activities.

Ahmad was taken to Central Jail Kot Bhalwal in Jammu.

In a separate action in Reasi, three people were arrested after police found heroin in their vehicle.

Police said the heroin weighed 6.78 grams.

Another person, Deepak Kumar, was arrested with 4.50 grams of heroin.

Police also described Kumar as a habitual offender.
