Maharashtra FDA bans non-dairy paneer: What experts want you to know · indianexpress.com

Paneer is a soft, cheese-like food made from milk.

Some companies make fake paneer that is not made from milk at all.

This fake paneer is called 'analogue' or non-dairy paneer.

The government in Maharashtra decided to stop people from making and selling this fake paneer for one whole year.

They did this because the fake paneer may be bad for people's health.

The government also said many companies were breaking food safety rules.

People who break this new rule could go to jail for life.

They could also have to pay a very big fine of 10 lakh rupees.

Another state called Chhattisgarh already made the same rule before.

So this ban is meant to keep people safe and make sure the paneer they eat is real.
