Delhi Dance Teacher Rescued After Yamuna Jump Over iPhone EMIs
Deepak Kumar is a 30-year-old dance teacher in Delhi.
He also does gardening work and lives with his wife and two children.
Police said his income had fallen in recent months.
Because of this, he was having trouble paying his iPhone instalments.
On Friday evening, he jumped into the Yamuna near Kalindi Kunj.
Police officers on patrol noticed what happened and called a rescue team.
The team came in a boat and brought him safely out of the river.
Police counselled him and contacted his family members.
He was later sent home.
Police said 30-year-old dance teacher Deepak Kumar jumped into the Yamuna in southeast Delhi.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. Friday near Bhola Ghat in Kalindi Kunj.
Kumar reportedly told police that declining income made his iPhone instalments difficult to pay.
Patrolling officers alerted the flood department, whose rescue team brought Kumar safely ashore by boat.
Police counselled Kumar, contacted his wife and brother-in-law, and sent him home.
