CoinSwitch Study Shows Young India Drives Crypto, Older Investors Diversify
CoinSwitch studied how its Indian users invested in crypto during April through June 2026.
People aged 26 to 35 made up the biggest group on the platform.
The youngest adults joined in the largest numbers, but they sold more crypto than they bought.
Older investors bought slightly more than they sold.
Older users also tended to spread their money across more cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin and Dogecoin were the most common pair of coins held together.
Uttar Pradesh had the largest share of investments on the platform.
The study only looked at CoinSwitch users, so it may not describe every crypto investor in India.
CoinSwitch found that investors aged 26–35 were its largest age group at 50.5%, while the article’s headline described nearly three-quarters as 35 or younger.
Investors aged 18–25 supplied 54.4% of new users but were the only group selling more than buying, with a buy-to-sell ratio of 0.65.
Investors aged 46 and above had the strongest buying bias at 1.14, while diversification generally increased with age.
Bitcoin and Dogecoin were the most popular pairing across age groups; Bitcoin ranked first in nine of the 10 largest investing states.
Uttar Pradesh accounted for 12.9% of CoinSwitch investment, and trading was busiest from 10–11 p.m. and on Thursdays.
