Hormuz Tanker Attacks Reach Wartime Weekly High, Sources Say
Many ships carrying oil and gas pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
During the week from September 28 to October 5, security sources counted at least 12 attacks on tankers in and around the strait.
They said this was the highest weekly number since the US war with Iran began on February 28.
The International Maritime Organization counted nine vessel incidents in that week using its own records.
A maritime center also reported attempted attacks and other harassment, such as drones flying over ships and radio calls.
India said an unknown projectile hit a tanker named On Peace.
Twelve people on the ship were hurt.
Gulf oil exports had been above pre-war levels for about half of September, but attacks and logistical difficulties may make higher shipments harder to sustain.

The sources said the tally was the highest in any week since the US war with Iran began on February 28.
