UP Rivers Rise After Rain as Authorities Step Up Relief
Heavy rain in the hills caused more water to enter rivers in Uttar Pradesh.

They are using warning messages, village meetings, boats and rescue workers.
Bijnor has opened flood outposts and shelters and sent food kits to affected villages.
In Barabanki, the Saryu River is above its danger level.
Earlier protective construction helped keep villages and embankments from being badly damaged.
A drainage project also helped prevent waterlogging in 17 wards of Gorakhpur.
Officials say populated areas are safe and the flood situation is under control.

The Haridwar Barrage released 1.80 lakh cusecs of water into the Ganga near Bijnor.
Bijnor activated round-the-clock monitoring, 32 flood outposts, 35 shelters, boats and relief supplies.
The Saryu River in Barabanki was about 50 centimetres above the danger mark, with discharge exceeding 4.35 lakh cusecs.
Officials said riverbank protection works limited erosion and that populated areas remained safe and the situation under control.
