Police allege that a woman pretended to be a Customs officer.
They say she showed him forged documents to make herself appear trustworthy.
She allegedly promised that his money would be used to buy gold and would earn attractive returns.
The doctor says her husband and sister may also have helped.
He also told police that he was threatened when he asked for his money back.
Police have registered a case against the three people.
Investigators are still looking into what happened, and no property has been recovered so far.
