A doctor in Indore met someone on Facebook who said she was a doctor from Syria.

She said she wanted to move to India because of the war.

Later, she claimed that Customs officials in Delhi had stopped her belongings.

Other scammers called the doctor while pretending to be Customs and RBI officials.

They asked him to pay fees to release the items.

The doctor sent money in several payments totaling ₹6.11 lakh.

He became suspicious when the requests for money continued.

Police are now trying to find the people behind the scam.
