Sachs Urges India To Avoid US Dependence, Embrace Emerging Markets
Jeffrey Sachs spoke about how the world economy is changing.
He said India should not depend too much on the United States.
Instead, he suggested that India work more closely with other developing countries, Africa and international groups such as BRICS.
Sachs believes India is growing very quickly and could become the world’s biggest growth story.
He said India and China have business opportunities but also serious political disagreements.
Sachs thought the recent meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping was useful because the two countries avoided a bigger conflict.
He also said many investors are putting too much money into American technology and artificial intelligence companies.
In his view, some of that money could eventually move to India if US markets become too expensive.
Jeffrey Sachs said India should not rely heavily on the United States and should deepen ties with BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Africa.
He described India as the fastest-growing large economy and predicted it would be the world’s main growth story over the next five years.
Sachs said India and China must manage tensions between their economic interests and broader geopolitical disagreements.
He viewed the recent Trump-Xi engagement positively because it reduced the risk of conflict, although he said the meeting produced little substantive content.
Sachs argued that US capital markets are in an AI-driven bubble, while rising US interest rates and valuations could eventually redirect investment toward India.
