Civil groups urge Karnataka CM to intervene in SIR process
Some people in Karnataka are worried about a list of voters.

This check is called the Special Intensive Revision.
Some groups think the check might remove people who should still be able to vote.
A famous actor named Prakash Raj went with others to meet the Chief Minister.
They gave him a letter about their worries.
They said many voters might be taken off the list by mistake.
They asked the government to take more time and check carefully.
They also want workers to visit homes to make sure people are still living there.
They hope every eligible person can keep their right to vote.
Civil society organisations led by actor Prakash Raj met Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar at Vidhana Soudha on Monday and submitted a memorandum on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The groups alleged the SIR process could lead to the wrongful deletion of eligible voters from the electoral rolls.
Around 1.09 crore voters are in the ASD (Absent, Shifted and Dead/Other categories) list, and deletion rates reportedly exceed 60 per cent at about 3,000 polling booths across the state.
The delegation urged the Chief Minister to ask the Election Commission to extend the SIR process by at least three months and provide up to one year for a fair and transparent exercise.
They demanded door-to-door verification by Booth Level Officers before any deletion and said the state government should approach the Supreme Court if required.
