National Lok Adalat Settles GVMC Dues After Strong Public Response
The National Lok Adalat helped people settle certain issues with GVMC.
The event was held at courts in Visakhapatnam, Bheemunipatnam, Anakapalli and Gajuwaka.
People paid money connected to property tax, vacant land tax and trade licences.
During the event, 489 payments were made.
These payments added up to more than Rs 1.45 crore.
GVMC had sent notices to about 4,000 people before the event.
Nearly 1,300 people paid more than Rs 5 crore by September 11.
Commissioner Ketan Garg said the response from the public was encouraging.
National Lok Adalat handled GVMC-related cases and outstanding dues at several courts.
A total of 489 payments were made during Saturday’s proceedings.
The payments covered property tax, vacant land tax and trade licences.
The payments totaled more than Rs 1.45 crore payable to GVMC.
Before the event, nearly 1,300 people had paid over Rs 5 crore after receiving notices.
