Treesa Jolly, Gayatri Gopichand stun 16th seeds at Badminton Worlds

Badminton is a sport where players hit a shuttlecock over a net.

Two Indian players, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, are playing together in a big competition called the BWF World Championships.

They played against Lauren Lam and Allison Quynh Lee from the United States.

Treesa and Gayatri were not expected to win because their opponents were the 16th best team in the competition.

But the Indian pair played very well and won in straight games, 21-15 and 21-12.

The match took only 38 minutes.

Treesa hit powerful smashes, while Gayatri used clever drop shots.

Their win sent them into the pre-quarterfinals of the women's doubles event.

Some other Indian players lost: Kavipriya Selvam and Simran Singhi lost in women's doubles, and two mixed doubles pairs were knocked out.

Another Indian player, Unnati Hooda, won her women's singles match to reach the second round.
