Karkala Development, Tulu Status Discussed With Karnataka Chief Minister
V Sunil Kumar, a lawmaker from Karkala, met Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.

BJP MLA V Sunil Kumar met Chief Minister D K Shivakumar to discuss Karkala’s development and preparations for the 2027 Mahamastakabhisheka.
The ten-day Sri Gommateshwara Swamy ceremony will begin on 18 February 2027 and is expected to attract visitors from India and abroad.
Kumar requested a special infrastructure grant and reviewed pending funds, existing works and approvals for new schemes.
The proposed agenda includes coastal development, Tulu’s recognition as Karnataka’s second official language, tourism, Kambala, jobs and irrigation.
Other demands include better roads, tourism projects, a 100-bed hospital in Hebri, a nursing college building and a local sculpture-and-furniture hub.
