Karkala Development, Tulu Status Discussed With Karnataka Chief Minister

V Sunil Kumar, a lawmaker from Karkala, met Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.

They talked about improving Karkala and other coastal areas.

They also discussed a large religious festival planned for February 2027.

The festival will last ten days and may bring many visitors.

Kumar asked for special money to improve roads and other facilities for those visitors.

He also asked the government to consider making Tulu the state’s second official language.

Several tourism, irrigation, health, education and job projects were discussed.

The government is expected to consider some of these proposals at a cabinet meeting in Mangaluru in September 2026.
