On Thursday, some companies told everyone how much money they made in the first three months of the year.

These reports are called earnings.

When a company earns more money than before, people usually want to buy its shares, and the price goes up.

Tata Motors made much more profit than last year, so its share price rose.

Vadilal, a company that makes ice cream and dairy foods, made almost twice as much profit, and its shares jumped a lot.

Lenskart, which sells glasses, also earned a lot more money and got added to a special list called the MSCI index.

A big bank called Bank of America wants to buy part of Jio Credit, a lending company, and that made Jio Financial shares go up too.

IRCTC, the company that runs railway ticket booking and catering, did not do as well, so its shares fell.

Overall, the main Indian stock markets were only a little bit weaker during the day.
