Alleged American Mercenary, Ukrainian National Released From Tihar Jail
An Indian court allowed seven foreign nationals to leave jail on bail.
They had been arrested over alleged unauthorized travel and training activities connected to armed groups in Myanmar.
One of them was Matthew Aaron VanDyke, an American, and others were Ukrainian nationals.
VanDyke was arrested at Kolkata airport.
Three Ukrainians were arrested at Lucknow airport, and three others were arrested at Delhi airport.
The National Investigation Agency filed charges related to illegal entry, stay and movement.
It did not use India’s anti-terror law in the case.
The court allowed the accused to travel to their home countries for one month while the case continues.
