Collector Promotes Crop Diversification for Farmer Prosperity
District Collector Sneha Shabarish recently inaugurated a crop rotation programme in Warangal, Telangana.
She encouraged farmers to diversify their crops to adapt to changing weather patterns, such as unseasonal rains and droughts caused by El Nino.
The Collector advised farmers to grow pulses, oilseeds, sesame, safflower, oil palm, and vegetables instead of just paddy and maize.
She also urged them to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and adopt organic farming practices.
The Collector launched the distribution of a special chilli seed variety called Arka Tejaswi, which is resistant to pests and can yield up to 40 quintals per acre.
The programme aims to make farming more profitable and sustainable.
