Assam Council Renamed Dima Hasao Autonomous Council
A council in Assam has been given a new name.
It was previously called the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council.
It will now be called the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, or DHAC.
An official order told all departments to use the new name.
The new name must appear on documents, signs and official seals.
The change follows a notification issued on May 18.
Officials said the goal is to make the name the same everywhere.
The council covers all of Dima Hasao district.
Its headquarters are in Haflong.
