Indian household inflation little changed at 4.45% in July

The government checks how much everyday things cost every month.

In July, prices in India went up a little bit compared to June.

This is called inflation.

Overall inflation was 4.45%, almost the same as last month.

Food prices went up a bit more than other things.

Onions became much more expensive, rising sharply from last month.

Potatoes cost less than a year ago but more than last month.

Tomatoes cost a little less.

The government's statistics office shared these numbers on Wednesday.

Higher food prices mean families have to spend more money on groceries.
