Omar Abdullah Opens Srinagar’s First Waste-to-Wonder Flower Garden
Omar Abdullah opened a new flower garden in Srinagar.
The garden is called the Waste to Wonder–Flower Garden.
It was made using many old and unwanted objects.
These include cars, a scooter, a tractor, tyres and other items.
Flowers and plants were added to make the objects look beautiful.
Nearly 90% of the materials were recycled or repaired.
The garden teaches people to reuse things instead of throwing them away.
It is also planned to have flowers from spring until late autumn.
Officials hope the idea can support tourism and inspire people to reduce waste.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated Srinagar’s first Waste to Wonder–Flower Garden at Floriculture Park in Polo View.
The garden uses installations made from discarded items, including an Ambassador car, tonga, boat, scooter, jeep, tractor, tyres and refrigerator.
Nearly 90% of the garden’s construction materials were recycled or refurbished rather than newly purchased.
The project promotes reducing, reusing and recycling waste, including reducing reliance on plastic bags.
The inauguration followed a Floriculture Mela featuring growers, nurseries, floral products and floriculture businesses from across Kashmir.
