Murder Victim's Brothers Arrested for Illegally Serving Liquor at Eatery
A man named Raja went on a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya with his new wife, Sonam.
Sadly, Raja was killed during that trip, and the police are still working on that case.
Raja's two older brothers, Sachin and Vipin, own a small eatery in Indore where people can get food.
The police recently found out that the eatery was serving alcohol to customers.
Serving alcohol needs a special permission called a licence, and the brothers did not have one.
Because of this, police arrested Sachin, Vipin, and three workers at the eatery.
The police said this was a precautionary arrest to stop them from breaking the law again.
Police also registered a case because the owners did not share information the police asked for.
Earlier, Raja's wife, her alleged friend, and three other people were arrested in connection with Raja's murder.
So now the family is also dealing with police over the eatery.
Sachin Raghuvanshi and Vipin Raghuvanshi, elder brothers of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, were placed under preventive arrest on Saturday along with three employees of their eatery.
The action followed a police discovery that liquor was allegedly being served illegally to customers at the eatery, which had not obtained a licence to serve alcohol.
The five people were arrested under Section 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which allows a police officer to arrest a person without a warrant if they have knowledge of a plan to commit a cognisable offence.
ACP Nidhi Saxena of Rau police station said a case was registered under the Excise Act over the alleged illegal liquor service, and a separate case under BNS Section 223 for failing to provide information to police.
Raja Raghuvanshi was murdered in Meghalaya's Sohra in May 2025; his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha, and three alleged hired killers were earlier arrested by Meghalaya police.
