Former Naxal Women Stun On Ramp At Handloom Day Event
Some women used to live deep in the forests of a place called Bastar in India.
They were part of a group called the Naxals and used to carry guns.
Now these women have decided to leave that life behind and join normal society.
To celebrate their new start, they walked like models on a fashion stage in Raipur.
They wore beautiful sarees made by hand, which is called handloom.
Everyone in the audience clapped very loudly for them.
The leader of Chhattisgarh watched the show and also launched a new brand for Kosa silk.
Around the same time, he asked the national government for better roads in Bastar.
Better roads would help faraway villages connect with the rest of the state.
The minister promised to look into the request.
Former women Naxals from Bastar walked the ramp to huge applause at a National Handloom Day tribal fashion show in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
The women, who once carried weapons in the dense forests of Bastar as Maoists, modelled traditional tribal handloom sarees.
The ramp walk symbolised their transformation after surrendering and rejoining mainstream society.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai launched 'Koshal Fab', a premium brand aimed at strengthening the market identity of Chhattisgarh's traditional Kosa silk.
Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma met Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi seeking flexibility under PMGSY norms for Bastar road connectivity, and Chouhan assured he would look into the matter.
