Delhi Court Allows NIA Tihar Interrogation of Two Foreigners
A Delhi court has allowed India’s National Investigation Agency to question two foreign prisoners.
The questioning will happen inside Tihar Jail on September 2 and 3.
One prisoner is from the United States, and the other is from Ukraine.
They are being held while the investigation continues.
The agency says they may have worked as mercenaries.
It also alleges that they were connected to armed groups in India and Myanmar.
Investigators are examining claims that the group helped these groups and provided drone training.
The prisoners were arrested after allegedly entering India from Myanmar through Mizoram.
A Delhi court approved the National Investigation Agency’s request to question Matthew Aaron Van Dyke and Kaminskyi Viktor inside Tihar Jail.
The interrogation is authorized for September 2 and 3 while both men remain in judicial custody.
Van Dyke is a United States citizen, while Viktor is a Ukrainian national.
The NIA alleges the men were involved in a terror conspiracy linked to ethnic armed groups in India and Myanmar.
The agency arrested the two men and six other Ukrainian nationals on March 13 after they allegedly entered India from Myanmar through Mizoram.
