The Cockroach Janta Party is a group that runs a very popular Instagram page with about 26.2 million followers.

On Saturday morning, which is India's Independence Day, that page suddenly disappeared.

The group's founder, Abhijeet Dipke, was upset and wrote on X that the official handle had been taken down.

He called the people responsible 'bloody cowards' and shared screenshots showing the account was unavailable.

A short time later, the group announced it had successfully recovered the account.

The group believed the takedown was an attempt to silence it on Independence Day and blamed Meta, the company that owns Instagram.

That same day, the group launched a campaign called 'School Thik Karo' to improve rural government schools, asking for basic things like benches and drinking water.

It also accused Delhi Police of using excessive force while dispersing protesters.

This wasn't the first time the group's accounts had problems—in May, Dipke said his Instagram was hacked.
