Iran says it will join BRICS development bank amid sanctions

Iran is a country that other countries are not allowed to do much business with because of rules called sanctions.

Because of those rules, Iran wants to find other ways to do money business with other countries.

The BRICS group is a team of countries that work together on trade and money.

They made a special bank called the New Development Bank.

That bank lends money to help countries build things like roads and other projects.

The leader of Iran's central bank said Iran will soon become a member of this bank.

He said this at a meeting of BRICS money leaders that India is hosting this year.

The bank's own office said it could not confirm that Iran is joining.

Iran became a member of the BRICS group itself in 2024.

Members of the group want to trade using their own money instead of the US dollar.
