The governor of Uttar Pradesh, a big state in India, went to a university in the city of Gorakhpur.

She was there for a big ceremony where students get their degrees.

While she was there, she noticed some problems at the university.

The boys' hostels did not have a dining area, so food was brought in boxes called tiffins.

She thought the food was not good enough and asked officials to test food samples.

She also said that drugs had been found in almost every state university she had visited, which made her worried.

The governor reminded everyone that Gorakhpur is where the Chief Minister lives, so it should set a good example.

She told officials to fix the problems within three months.

The leader of the opposition party made jokes on social media about the government because of her words.

The university said it had already started fixing the problems and hoped to solve most of them within a week.

Uttar Pradesh Governor and university chancellor

“While exposing the ‘Gorakhpur model’, the comparison has also brought to light allegations of irregularities in the ‘Gujarat model’. The common thread between the two is that both have BJP governments and what is also common is BJP’s alleged mega‑corruption. Their internal clashes have turned the so‑called ‘double‑engine’ government into a ‘trouble‑engine’ government.”

“Stop purchasing food in tiffin. Make your own arrangements. If food has to be brought from the market, order it and have it prepared under proper supervision. If food comes in a tiffin, drugs can also come in it. Anything can come in a tiffin.”
