Inside Bidesia Project: Reviving the Soul of Bhojpuri Folk Music

Music is a wonderful way to tell stories, and for a very long time people have sung a kind of traditional music called Bhojpuri folk music.

These songs tell stories about people who move far away, about love, about missing home, and about being strong.

Now, many traditional art forms are being forgotten, and these songs are in danger of being lost.

A group called The Bidesia Project has an important job: to save Bhojpuri folk music.

They make videos, called documentaries, that show the music and the people who sing it.

They also make field recordings, which are recordings of songs made out in the real places where they are sung.

All of these recordings are being kept in a growing digital archive so they can be listened to anytime.

The project wants the songs to reach new generations, so that children and grandchildren can still hear them.

By saving these songs, the project helps keep the memories and feelings of the past alive.
