Eetha, Shraddha Kapoor's Vithabai Lavani Biopic, Gets Release Date
A movie called 'Eetha' tells the story of a famous dancer named Vithabai, who was known as the queen of a traditional dance style called Lavani.
Actress Shraddha Kapoor plays Vithabai in the movie.
The movie will come out on December 4, 2026.
In the teaser, Vithabai is shown performing on stage even though she had just given birth and was warned the risk was life-threatening, because she said she would rather be remembered as a legend who died dancing than as a helpless woman.
Some of Vithabai's family members wanted the movie to be called 'Vittha' instead of 'Eetha'.
The movie director explained that people in villages used to call her 'Eetha', which is why the name was chosen.
The family is now satisfied and says the movie shows the Tamasha and Lavani community in a very positive light.
The movie is set between the 1950s and 1980s, and it includes many other actors, like Nana Patekar and Randeep Hooda.
The film team, including Shraddha Kapoor, plans to visit Narayangaon before the movie is released.
Eetha, directed by Laxman Utekar and starring Shraddha Kapoor as Lavani queen Vithabai, will release on December 4, 2026.
The title controversy was resolved after Utekar explained that Vitthabai was known as 'Eetha' in rural areas.
Vithabai's grandson Mohit Narayangaonkar said the family is satisfied and that the film portrays the Tamasha and Lavani community positively.
The film team, including Shraddha Kapoor, is expected to visit Narayangaon, considered the pilgrimage of Tamasha, before the film's release.
The 1950s-to-1980s biopic also features Randeep Hooda, Nana Patekar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Siddharth Jadhav.
