IIT Bombay Awards Record 620 PhD Degrees at Convocation

IIT Bombay held its 64th Convocation in 2026.

It gave degrees to students finishing undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies.

Altogether, 3,763 degrees went to 3,442 students.

This included a record 620 PhD degrees.

The institute said this was the highest number of PhD degrees awarded by any IIT in one academic year.

The total also included 1,713 undergraduate and 1,430 postgraduate degrees.

During the two-day Autumn ceremony, 3,333 degrees were given to 3,042 students.

The increase in PhD numbers was linked partly to checking on research work that had remained unfinished for many years.
