India Becomes Key Hub for AI Deployment Engineering Talent

High demand is pushing FDE salaries above normal engineering pay.
However, the report warns that many advertised jobs may not be genuine FDE positions.
India has about 900 experienced Forward Deployed Engineers against an estimated 4,650 roles by 2027.
Globally, roughly 8,900 experienced FDEs face more than 33,000 open and announced positions.
FDEs combine software engineering, industry knowledge and client-facing skills to deploy AI systems.
India’s technology workforce, IT services sector and more than 2,100 global capability centres support its talent advantage.
FDE salaries are estimated at 30-60% above regular engineering bands, although many job postings may represent relabelled implementation roles.
