India’s Agentic AI Engineer Demand Set to Surge 260%
A report says India will need many more engineers who can build and manage AI systems.
These workers are called Agentic AI engineers.
Their demand is expected to grow by 260% by 2026.
AI is already doing much of some routine technology work, such as answering support tickets and creating software tests.
This does not mean people are no longer needed, because humans still handle the remaining work.
Companies are teaching existing employees new AI, cloud and cybersecurity skills.
Other fast-growing jobs include AI architects, AI product owners, LLM engineers and MLOps engineers.
The report says companies need both new hiring and better training for current workers.
This reflects a shift from experimenting with AI to using it in everyday business.
Demand for Agentic AI engineers in India is projected to rise 260% year-on-year by 2026, the fastest growth among tracked emerging roles.
GenAI solutions architects and AI product owners each recorded 120% demand growth, while LLM and MLOps engineers rose 86.5% and 82.2%.
AI is handling up to 70% of ticket-resolution and report-generation workloads and 65% of test-case creation.
Organisations are prioritising reskilling and training in AI, cloud engineering, cybersecurity, data engineering and automation.
The CIEL HR report analysed more than 450 million job postings, 30 million professional profiles and 10,000 mapped skills from March 2024 to May 2026.
